EHS is currently recruiting for an AutoCAD / Field Technician: We are a design engineering firm that specializes in hazardous materials identification. We are currently looking for someone to join our team who is proficient with AutoCAD and able to assist in field operations such as building inspections for hazardous materials.

We have been in business in Eagle River, Alaska since 1986 and are a recognized industry leader for hazardous materials design work and Industrial Hygiene.  We are an employee-owned company. We work throughout the State of Alaska. Our office is currently located in Eagle River, Alaska.

The minimum requirements for this position include:

3-years of demonstrated experience with AutoCAD drafting software.

Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Be able to climb ladders, work in confined spaces.

Be able to travel throughout Alaska including to rural areas in small planes, boats, four-wheeler, snow machines, etc.

Pre-employment and random drug testing will be required.

 The successful candidate should be:

Safety-oriented.

Able to perform their duties as part of a team and be able to work independently.

Have a strong technical ability.

Under the direction of the Project Managers, this position will work as part of a team, helping to prepare computer generated plans to be used in the design of projects to remove hazardous materials from buildings.  This position will be trained to conduct field surveys for hazardous building materials.  This position will provide additional miscellaneous support to project managers as needed.  Some travel and overtime will be a requirement of this position.

 It shall be the responsibility of each person employed as an AutoCAD/Field Technician to:

Prepare technical drawings either from supplied drawings or by creating drawings showing the location of hazardous building materials and their suggested removal.

  1. Perform hazardous materials surveys.
  2. Operate monitoring equipment.  Participate in training opportunities on equipment operation.
  3. Attend training classes to keep all certifications for hazardous building materials current and in force.  Meet all physical and mental requirements of certifications. EHS-Alaska, Inc will provide training and oversight of scheduling.
  4. Undergo physicals and drug testing as required by applicable laws and regulations.
  5. Participate in staff meetings.
  6. Represent the interests of EHS-Alaska, Inc. in such a way as to maintain client confidence and trust in the reputation of the corporation and employees.
  7. Notify Project Managers of potential clients and projects.
  8. Maintain project and corporate confidentiality.
  9. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  10. Ability to climb ladders and to work at heights.
  11. Ability to crawl on hands and knees through confined spaces, at times carrying or pulling sampling equipment.
  12. Ability to travel by air to remote job site locations.
  13. Ability to use or travel by various modes of transportation used in rural Alaska. This may include four wheelers, sleds, air boats, skiffs.
  14. Ability to work in confined spaces and underground. Ability to wear respirator while working in certain conditions.
  15. Willingness to use sleeping bags and alternative living arrangements at remote sites in the event that hotel or commercial lodging is not available.
  16. Ability to pass a background check if required for specific project access.
  17. Other job duties as assigned.
